With great sadness, we have to tell you that the Berlin Pop Choir is no longer running. After a brave and difficult fight against cancer, our beloved leader and founder, Lyndsey Cockwell, passed away in July.
We’re still deciding how to continue her legacy. She made her own beautiful music, she made incredible arrangements, she united hundreds of Berliners, she gave people a place to sing their hearts out every week, unjudged, she showed people the true power of music, she inspired people to believe in themselves and to live how they wanted to live. She was a powerful woman, with endless energy and ideas, and a willingness to be involved in the craziest of projects. She was also a sensitive songwriter who wrote and performed heartfelt and beautiful songs.
We believe her music and creativity should live on.

The Berlin Pop Choir
The Berlin Pop Choir and Ensemble’s psychedelic spring performance was far out, man! On 4. April we raised the roof again at the legendary SO36 with 2 amazing choirs plus a beautiful ‘Indian music pot pourri‘ from Sankalita Mandal and a Kinks song from Lyndsey Cockwell with Claire Coleman. Everyone dressed for the occasion and it was a truly groovy night.

The Berlin Pop Choir and Ensemble winter performance was another triumph! The devilishly good HEAVEN AND HELL themed celebration took place on 20. December 2016 at the legendary SO36.
We were delighted to have Sacred Harp Berlin along as special guests, and Lyndsey Cockwell performed two songs inspired by the Heaven and Hell theme. As usual the choirs dressed up to the nines and sang as good as they looked! The audience were dancing in the isles. A huge well done to everyone who took part!

On 24. July 2016, The Berlin Pop Choir collaborated with artisits Isabella Fürnkäs and Carina Erdmann as part of the Udk Rundgang. SIREN was a site specific performance project organized by students of the University of the Arts in Berlin (Udk) at Ernst-Reuter-Platz – a central traffic island with a huge water fountain.
For this unique performance, we sang a specially adapted and improvised version of BPC Director Lyndsey Cockwell’s arrangement of the Malaria! classic: ‘Kaltes Klares Wasser,‘ and actually got in the water and performed a choreography. There has certainly never been a BPC performance like it!

Lyndsey Cockwell presented the Berlin Pop Choir and Ensemble summer performance on 14. June 2016. We worked hard for 10 weeks and were ready to show everyone what we could do! Exploding with energy, the two choirs gave the choral scene a shot in the arm with their original, contemporary arrangements, heavenly harmonies, gorgeous grooves – and their love of dressing up!
The power and moving sounds of around 200 performers singing for the pure joy of it was as infectious as ever and the Berlin Pop Choir sang ‘Last nite‘ by The Strokes, ‘Kaltes Klares Wasser‘ by Malaria!, ‘Fade to grey‘ by Visage and ‘Praise you‘ by Fatboy Slim. Hear for yourself with the youtube playlist above.
The Berlin Pop Choir took their second summer trip in July 2016 to Schloss Noer near the Ostsee. A weekend dedicated to sun, sand, sea and most importantly singing!
There was morning workshops and afternoon 3-4 part harmony singing in the Schloss’ beautiful roter saal, and the singing didn’t stop there! we had road trip bus songs, camp fire songs and sunset singing on the beach. Everyone had a fantastic time.
